That happened to me recently. I ran across two very interesting pieces of information concerning the prophecies of Garabandal, both basically unrelated, but which seem to dovetail perfectly.
Before I share my little 'epiphany' with you, let me touch on the basics of the apparitions at Garabandal for those of you who are unfamiliar with them. If you know all about it, then click here to bypass the Garabandal background.
In 1961, in the small village of Garabandal in the Cantabrian Mountains of northwestern Spain, four young girls had an experience that would change their lives forever. Conchita Gonzalez, Mari-Loli Mazon, Jacinta Gonzalez, and Mari Crux Gonzalez were all eleven and twelve at the time. On June 1, 1961, the four friends were on the outskirts of the village, praying. They heard a loud sound, like thunder, and there appeared before them a beautiful angel. The angel was silent, and the shaken girls fled to the village church where they told the people what they'd seen. Several more apparitions of this angel followed the first, but it wasn't until July 1 that he spoke for the first time. He informed them that on the next day, the Blessed Virgin would appear to them.
Many people joined the locals and the children for the first apparition of the Blessed Mother. At about 6 PM, as the children made their way to the place the angel had been manifesting to them, the Blessed Mother suddenly appeared. She was flanked by two angels, one of which the children recognized. Above Mother Mary's head was a large eye which the children thought was the Eye of God. The children spoke with Mary, and then said a rosary in her presence. Thus began four years of apparitions and messages that would touch hundreds of thousands of people across the world.
Mary's messages there were much like Mary's messages at Fatima, or Lourdes, or LaSallette ... or even the ongoing Medjugorje: "Pray! Repent! Amend your lives! Come closer to God or a great chastisement awaits you!" Each apparition seems to have its signature message, however, and Garabandal was no exception. We learned from Garabandal that God was about to send us a set of events: a great Warning, a Miracle, and a chastisement.
Rather than try to describe these in my own words, let me use quotes from the visionaries themselves.
Conchita:
"This warning, like the chastisement, is a very fearful thing for the good as well as the wicked. It will draw the good closer to God and it will warn the wicked that the end of time [not to be confused with the end of the world] is coming and that these are the last warnings. No one can stop it from happening. It is certain, although I know nothing of the day or the date. The warning will be like a revelation of our sins, and it will be seen and experienced equally by believers and non-believers and people of any religion whatsoever. Each person on earth will have an interior experience of how they stand in the light of God's Justice. It is like a purification for the miracle. And it is like a catastrophe. It will make us think of the dead, that is, we would prefer to be dead than to experience the warning. (...)
Jesus will send the warning to purify us so that we may better appreciate the miracle by which he clearly proves his love for us and hence his desire that we see the consequences of the sins we have committed. I think that those who do not despair will experience great good from it for their sanctification.
The warning is something supernatural and will not be explained by science. It will be seen and experienced by all men all over the world and will be a direct work of God. It will be very awesome. However, if men die from it, it will be only from the emotional shock of seeing it. It will be a correction of the conscience of the world. Those who do not know Christ will believe it is a warning from God."
More from Conchita about the Warning:
"It is a phenomenon which will be seen and felt in all the world and everywhere; I have always given as an example that of two stars that collide. This phenomenon will not cause physical damage, but it will horrify us because at that very moment we will see our souls and the harm we have done. It will be as though we were in agony but we will not die by its effects but perhaps we will die of fright or shock to see ourselves. May the Virgin forgive me if I do not explain it the way it is, but I am trying to tell you . . . (Garabandal Magazine, January-March 1980)
"To me, it's like two stars that crash and make a lot of noise and a lot of light but they don't fall. . . It's something that's not going to hurt us but we're going to see it. In that moment, we're going to see our conscience."
Jacinta:
"The Warning is something that is first seen in the air everywhere in the world and immediately is transmitted into the interior of our souls. It will last for a very little time, but it will seem a very long time because of its effect within us. It will be for the good of our souls in order to see in ourselves our conscience; the good that we have failed to do, and the bad that we have done. Then we will feel a great love towards our Heavenly Parents and ask forgiveness for all our offenses. The Warning is for us to draw closer to Him and to increase our faith. therefore, one should prepare for the at day, but not await it with fear. God does not send things for the sake of fear but rather with justice and love. He does it for the good of all His children so they might enjoy eternal happiness and not be lost."
She was also told that: "the warning would come when conditions were at their worst."
Mari-Loli:
"We will see it and feel it within ourselves and it will be most clear that it comes form God. "
"Everyone will experience it wherever they may be, regardless of their condition or their knowledge of God. It will be an interior personal experience. It will look as if the world has come to a standstill, however, no one will be aware of that as they will be totally absorbed in their own experience."
She knows the year of the warning, and she said that The Miracle will happen within one year after The Warning, but could come very soon after it, even as soon as just a day.
Conchita:
"The Blessed Virgin advised me of a great miracle, saying that God, Our Lord, would perform it through her intercession. Just as the chastisement will be very, very great, in keeping with the needs of the world.
The Blessed Virgin has told me the date of the miracle and what it will consist of. I am suppose to announce it eight days in advance, so that people will come. The Pope will see it from wherever he is, and Padre Pio also (he is reliably reported to have seen the miracle before he died.) The sick who are present at the miracle will be cured and the sinners will be converted.
It will coincide with an event in the Church and with the feast of a saint who is a martyr of the Eucharist, and it will take place at eight-thirty on a Thursday evening. It will be visible not only to all those who are in the village but also to those in the surrounding mountains. It will be the greatest miracle that jesus has performed for the world. There won't be the slightest doubt that it comes from God and that it is for the good of mankind.
There will be no doubt in the mind of anyone who sees this great miracle which God, Our Lord, will perform through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. And now as we await this great day of the miracle, let us see if the world changes and the chastisement is averted."
Other bits and pieces from Conchita concerning the Miracle:
"It will take place on or between the eighth and sixteenth of March, April or May. It will not happen in February or June."
"A sign of the miracle --una sel del milagro, which it will be possible to film or televise but not touch, will remain forever at the pines."
"The sign that will remain will be able to be seen, photographed and televised but it will not be able to be touched. It will appear clearly that it is something not of this world, but of God."
"As the punishment which we deserve for the sins of the world is great, the miracle must also be a great one, for the world needs it."
Mari-Loli:
"The miracle will take place within one year after the warning."
At another time she also said that it could be very soon after the warning, even as close as a day.
Conchita:
"I cannot reveal what kind of punishment it is except that it will be a result of the direct intervention of God, which makes it more terrible and fearful than anything we can imagine. It will be less painful for innocent babies to die a natural death than for those babies to die because of the punishment. All Catholics should go to confession before the punishment and the others should repent of their sins. When I saw IT (the punishment), I felt a great fear even though at the same time I was seeing Our Blessed Mother. The punishment, if it comes, will come after the miracle"
"If the world changes, the chastisement can be averted."
Mari-Loli:
"It would be worse than having fire on top of us - fire underneath us and fire all around us. She saw people throwing themselves into the sea, but instead of putting the fire out it seemed to make them burn more."
Now, a few things that we can gather from the above quotes are that the Warning will come first, the Great Miracle which will leave behind a permanent sign will come next, and finally, if we don't change and repent, the chastisement will come.
We haven't been given any dates, however we know that Mari-Loli knows the year of the Warning, and says it will be within a year of the Great Miracle, although they could come as close together as mere days. Conchita knows the date of the Great Miracle, and although she was unable to reveal it, she was able to give us a few hints:
1) It will be in March, April or May
Now, here are the coincidences that I wanted to tell you about:
Coincidence #1:
Sadie Jaramillo is modern day visionary for whom I have sincere respect. This is what she posted on December 17, 2001 on her website:
2) It will be between the 8th and the 16th of the month.
3) It will be on a Thursday at about 8:30 PM (Garabandal time)
4) It will coincide with the feast of a martyr of the Eucharist
5) It will also coincide with a special "event" in the Church.

On October 23, 1996, I was told by Jesus that He "desired" me to be present for the "Great Miracle of Garabandal." As a result of this, over the years, I have had many people ask me if I am going. When they learn that I am, they want to know with whom. Up until a while back I did not know how this was going to come about. But always trusting in the Divine Providence of the Lord it now has been made possible.
Because I feel the time drawing near, I am sharing with you that I will be on a trip to Garabandal for the Great Miracle with Wendy Benedick. Many have asked for this information so I wanted to share it with you, if you would also like to go for this most awesome Miracle of all time. Please see below for contact information. Have patience as she will be responding to many wishing to be part of this pilgrimage. Sadie |
(Anyone with a spare ticket can pass it to me! ;)
After the above message, she has a very well done background on Garabandal.
I read and reread her message, and decided that it was more than imagination that made me feel as if the message were pregnant with unsaid things that "bulged" conspicuously just below the surface.
I posted it on our news page, and then mulled the implications over the Holidays.
Coincidence #2:
Last week, I dropped in on our sister site, Mary's Yellowstone, to take a peek and I found the following message from Hope:
| Question for you all: Have you taken a look at your Catholic Calendar for the month of April recently? If you do and we all think about the warning, the miracle and the chastisement you might find something to ponder... On April 11th you will find the feast day of Saint Stanislaus (A Eucharistic Martyr). My question to you all is this.. if you look at the details of the warning we know it will occur between the 8th and the 16th, it will be on a Thursday and it will be on a feast day of a not so well known Eucharistic Martyr. As well, it will be coinciding with a special day in the church... now here are the facts; When Boleslaus entered the cathedral of Cracow, Stanislaus halted the services. Enraged, Boleslaus followed him to the chapel of Saint Michael outside the city and ordered his guards to kill him. The men returned and said that they could not kill him because he was surrounded by a divine light. Upbraiding his men for their cowardice, the king himself entered the chapel and killed Stanislaus as he was celebrating the Mass. The guards cut the body up and scattered it to be eaten by wild animals. Three days later his remains were collected by cathedral canons and buried at the door of the chapel. Now to add to this, his feast is celebrated this year on Thursday, April 11th and the date of his feast day falls the week of the Annunciation, it falls between the 2nd and 3rd week of Easter and most of all it will follow Divine Mercy Sunday which will be held Sunday April 7, 2002 and which is the 2nd Sunday of Easter. Just wondering what your thoughts are?? MYS Crew! |
Now, I could certainly be wrong. This could simply really be nothing more than a coincidence. After all, we're not sure yet what date Sadie is going, and I'm not aware (yet) of a special Church event coming up in April. One of the visionaries said the event would be something "like proclaiming a new dogma," and that whatever it was hadn't happened in her lifetime. Some say that they believe that the dogma of Mary Mediatrix will be proclaimed then, but since the visionary said it was something "like" a new dogma being proclaimed, then I think it will be some other sort of "event." Even so, I don't know of anything on the books, although I'll be certain to let everyone know if I hear any specific rumblings from the Vatican.
Yet, even without knowing of any particular Church events coming up in April, just the idea that a Eucharist martyr's feast actually falls on a Thursday of one of those months, and between those dates, is enough to raise some flags. It's a condition that's not often met, and many years can pass without seeing such a thing.
It also makes me realize that if the Miracle were to happen this April, that the Warning would have to happen sometime between now and then. I'm afraid that I could live in the confessional and still not be ready to face that Warning!
One thing I do know for certain: we are very late in the game, no matter who you listen to, and who you ignore. Whether or not you believe in Garabandal, Medjugorje ... or even Fatima and Lourdes ... is really immaterial. What is hard to ignore, and I sincerely hope you do believe, comes right out of the Bible:
2 Timothy 3 (1) But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. (2) People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (3) without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, (4) treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (5) having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. |
2 Peter 3 (2) I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles. (3) First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. (4) They will say, "Where is this `coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." |
Matthew 24 (5) For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. (6) You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. (7) Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. (8) All these are the beginning of birth pains. (9) "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. (10) At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, (11) and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. (12) Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, (13) but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. |
Mark 13 (6) Many will come in my name, claiming, `I am he,' and will deceive many. (7) When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. (8) Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. |
