I AM THE SALT OF THE EARTH

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings and best wishes on this dark Monday morning! We had a beautiful day for the Palmer Road Church picnic yesterday. What a large crowd of people turned up. The music was great and so was the food. People came from all over the Island and even from the mainland to be present at this great event.

After praying the liturgical hours this morning, I had my usual contemplative prayer with Jesus. During the prayer Jesus spoke to me saying, "Melvin, you are mine. We are together again united in love. I am the salt of the earth. I keep you fresh in my love. Without me all meaning to life would be gone; life would just be emptiness and pain. However, with me life has a purpose, a goal. It is only in close relationship with me that you can find your true goal in life. This goal in life is not found in the applause of the world but only in me. Deny yourself and come follow me. Submit your mind and heart to me and you will find freedom, joy and peace. Remember we were made for each other. I call you all to live in me and I in you. I am the only one who can bring you lasting peace even in suffering. I bless you in my love."

Salt plays an important role in preserving food and giving taste to food. Jesus does for our life what salt does for food. With Jesus everything looks different, everything has meaning. Without Him everything is tasteless. It is my joy to be with Jesus every day in prayer. He is right there with me and He speaks to my heart. He needs silence in order to communicate with us. It is the most important meeting of the day. He brings purpose to my day and I know that He will be with me during the whole day. In Him I find the strength and the joy to do whatever He calls me to do. With Him the day is never boring but there is joy in working with Him for He is always with me. I know if I become disturb, this does not come from Him. I simply have to return to Him and hand over to Him whatever disturbed me, and peace will return. I keep my eyes on Him and I do what my heart tells me. I need to rely on Him although I don't always understand fully everything He asks of me. We need to put our faith into practice every day.

Today I will be at the nursing home for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist with many of the residents there. Then at 3:30 p.m. I will celebrate the Holy Eucharist a second time for the 50th Wedding Anniversary of dear friends of mine. Please pray for Ken and May that the Lord will bless them on this great day. May Jesus and Our Blessed Mother keep you in their hearts today.

I AM THE RISEN ONE

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this beautiful Sunday! The sun is shinning and it is cool this morning. The people of Palmer Road Parish are very happy this morning for it is the day of their picnic. We will have the celebration of the Holy Eucharist outside at 11:00 a.m. followed by a lobster meal. There will be music and singing by various people all afternoon. I thank the Lord for He is good.

During my usual prayer this morning, Jesus was with me and spoke saying, "Melvin, I am the Risen One and I love you. The tomb is empty for the resurrection has taken place. I have won the battle against death. See my wounds in my hands, feet and side. They are full of light today for they are the marks of your Saviour. Believe with all your heart and mind that I am fully alive, never to die again. Today I am throwing fire upon the earth and may your hearts glow in this fire. May your hearts never be cold again but warm with my love. This blazing fire is my love for you all, and how I desire that you be on fire for me and all your brothers and sisters. This fire will burn in your heart what is not from me and leave your heart aglow with love. My dear friends, ask for this fire and I will give it to you. May the fire begin now in your heart for I love you."

When we see a picture of the Heart of Jesus, there is always flames coming from it to show us how much He loves us. Divine Love is like a huge fire that never goes out. It is the sparks from this fire of His that fall on us and how He wish that they begin fires in our hearts. Let us open our hearts to accept this fire from Him. It will renew us completely and light every dark corner in our heart. What a wonderful gift this is from the Lord. Let us thank Him for His goodness and love.

I will con-celebrate the Holy Eucharist with other priests at Palmer Road Parish to open the picnic. A very large crowd is expected there today. May the Lord bless you all and fill you with His love.

PRAY DAILY THE PRAYER OF THE HEART

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings on this cool morning after a night of rain. It is still cloudy so we might still have more rain. Yesterday I had the visit of a large family group from Cape Breton who came for prayers. They are people of great faith. I am preparing my trip to Newfoundland which begins on August 24th and I will return on 26th in the evening.

During my period of prayer today, I was with Jesus who spoke to me saying, "Melvin, I love you. Place your heart and mind n me this morning. As it is Saturday, let us go and meet our Mother." I gladly agreed and Jesus took me to her home. Our Blessed Mother spoke saying, "Welcome Jesus and Melvin to my home. My heart is full of joy to see you. Jesus, my Son, my joy is overflowing at your visit. Melvin, my priest son, I am your Mother and I love you with all my heart. Bring my blessing to all my children for whom I pray constantly. So many are lost in the darkness of sin and unbelief. They care only for comfort and pleasure, but neglect the one thing necessary: to walk with the Lord and seek salvation. Pray daily the prayer of the heart for the graces you need and the salvation of all my children. Pray the rosary for my house of prayer so greatly needed on the Island. I love you all."

Our dearest Mother is always concerned about us, her children. Her prayer is always for our salvation, so that we can be united with God forever in heaven. She promotes the praying of the rosary, her special prayer. Let us pray the rosary every day for her intention. The prayer of the heart that Our Lady speaks about is contemplative prayer. However, she wants every prayer to be of the heart. Let us put our mind and our heart in every prayer we offer.

I will continue my preparation for the weekend in St. John's, New- foundland. Please pray for all who will take part in this weekend retreat. I will celebrate the Holy Eucharist this evening at 7:00pm in the parish here. Tomorrow is the parish picnic at our church at Palmer Road. Please pray for fine weather. May the Lord and Our Blessed Mother bless you all with peace and joy.

FATHER, FORGIVE THEM

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings on this cloudy Friday morning! We had another hot day yesterday but it seems there is rain on the way. I was called to the hospital in Alberton around 10:00 p.m. last night and on my way back the engine belt for the alternator, pump, etc. broke. I could not drive it home but the Lord did not abandon me. I found that I stopped right next to a garage to where with help I could push the car. The lady next door just happened to arrive home from work and when I told her about what happened, she just turned her car around and drove me home. I just phoned the garage this morning and they agreed to fix the problem. A minute ago as I'm finishing this letter, I received a phone call that the car is ready and would I come to get it.

In prayer this morning, I was with Jesus at the foot of the cross who spoke to me in His great pain saying, "Melvin, I am suffering for you and all my brothers and sisters. Come here to the foot of my cross and keep me company. What torments and pain goes through my whole body as I die for all of you. This is the price I willingly pay today for your sins for I love you. Melvin, I am giving you a new experience of my suffering on the cross. Let this experience help you to join your sufferings to mine for your renewal and the renewal of the whole world. Father, forgive them, they know not what they do. Yes I forgive all those who are killing me. I have no anger in my heart. Join me in forgiving all those who ever hurt you in any way. I call on all my friends to forgive from the heart all those towards whom they have resentment. Follow my example and forgive everyone. Father, into your hands I commit my spirit."

Jesus dies for love of us. Today let us do what Jesus asks of us. Let us forgive and we will be forgiven. May the Lord's suffering and death bring us close to Him. Let us open our heart to accept His love.

ENTER THE SILENCE TO HEAR MY VOICE

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning to you and all! We have another sunny day with no rain in sight. The temperature is very pleasant with very little humidity. Last evening I went to the supper-theatre with my Aunt. We go every year together to enjoy a good laugh and a good meal. These plays are put on by local people and it is all in our Acadian language. There was a lot of singing and dancing too. My Aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

During my prayer time this morning, I was with Jesus who spoke to me saying, "Melvin, I am in your heart, I love you. I live among you, my brothers and sisters, for I am with you always. Through baptism you have been united to me and I to you. Our partnership will grow if you allow it. I wish to have a close relationship with everyone of you, but I do not force myself on you. I invite you gently, with a heart full of love, to walk with me. Walk with me every day and I will teach you my way which is not your way. You will know my voice for it will bring you peace. You have to take time to be with me and enter the silence to hear my voice. I call you today to live only for me and not for the world. Cooperate with all the graces I am giving you. I bless you with my peace."

Every day the Lord has a word for us we need to hear. It is often taken from the Bible especially the Gospels. He makes that word come alive for us as He speaks it to us now. Let us take that word to heart and apply it to our lives. In order to hear that word we have to enter the silence of our heart and listen to His gentle voice. He never disturbs or confuse us, but brings us peace and joy. We often listen to different voices in the world but there is only one that really matters, it is the voice of Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour. Let us listen to His voice today. I am preparing for my trip to Newfoundland next weekend starting August 24th. Please pray that the Lord will touch all present through the ministry of Bishop Faber MacDonald and myself. I'll be in Summerside, P.E.I. this afternoon visiting dear friends of mine. May Jesus and Mary keep you all in their heart today.

Mary said, "I WILL FORM JESUS IN YOU."

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings, peace and joy on Our Lady's Feast! The day is so beautiful with the sun shinning bright and the weather so cool after the fog lifted. The whole of creation seem to sing a hymn of joy to Our Blessed Mother. Last evening I celebrated the Holy Eucharist for a large family group, more than half of them from the U.S.

This morning in prayer Jesus began saying, "Melvin, I am Jesus who loves you with all my heart. Today is the great feast of the Assumption of my dear Mother into heaven. Let us go to visit her." Jesus brought me to her home. We sat together with her and she began to speak saying, "Jesus and Melvin, welcome to my home all decorated for this feast of mine. I love you both. The heavenly Father out of love brought me to heaven body and soul, so I could live with Him. What great honour He has given me for being the Mother of Jesus, His Son. Jesus, you are my joy and my glory. Melvin and all my children, I am your mother too. You have been given to me as my children by Jesus on the cross. I love you all and I intercede for you before the throne of my Son. If you allow me, I will form Jesus in you, and He will come and live in you. I wish you will all become other Jesus(s) formed by me your mother. Conform your life to the life of Jesus, and I will be at your side to mother you. I love you and I bless you all."

What joy there must be in heaven today and how beautiful Our Mother is! The angels and the saints are singing their hymn to Our Blessed Mother. She is singing too, especially her Magnificat. How I long to be there to take part in this never-ending feast. God is honouring her too for she is the greatest being of our race, the perfect maidservant ever to be born.

Let the whole world raise a song of praise to her who cares for all of us. She is our dearest mother who prays for us unceasingly, and she channels the graces won by Jesus, her Son, to each one of us. Let us be devoted to her by praying the rosary every day and asking for her help. I will spend the day with Jesus, my Saviour, and Mary, my Mother. May they set your hearts on fire with love.

KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON ME

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings and peace in the Lord! We have another sunny and cool morning but no rain yet. The light wind from the north west is truly a blessing. I was at the prayer meeting in Tignish last evening and it was so refreshing to spend an hour in prayer to the Lord.

In my half hour of contemplative prayer this morning, Jesus spoke to me saying, "Melvin, I thank you for taking time to be with me today. Be filled with joy for I love you. I am the light of the world. I chase away darkness, doubt, confusion and depression. However, I do not force my light upon you. Turn to me and open your heart and mind to me, if you want my light to penetrate your being. My dear friends, do not stay in the cold darkness outside but come inside into my warm home of love. Surrender yourselves completely to me and I will melt your heart of stone and I'll put mine in its place. In this way our two hearts will become one burning with love. I give you all my light today. I light your path by showing you the way you should go. I strengthen your will in the decisions you will take with me today. I give you my grace to avoid sin. Keep your eyes fixed on me and do not be afraid for I am with you. I give you my peace."

Without the Lord's help we live in darkness. The world pulls us this way and that way all the time. We are slaves to our passions and drives. We can be confused and full of doubt. Stress, fatigue, and depression can set in. Jesus told us that we can not do any good on our own power. This is why we have a great need of Him. He is always there ready to help us if we let Him. He does not force Himself on us but He knocks at the door of our heart. Are we ready to open to Him and let Him enter our heart? Each person has to decide for himself or herself to let Him in. In our walk with the Lord, we have to keep our eyes fixed on Him. Do not worry about what others think or say for we are not in any competition. Let all be out of love for Jesus and for the people.

Tomorrow is the great feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven. God the Father honoured her in a very special way. Let us give her great honour on this feast. She is Our Mother who loves us all. May Jesus and Mary bless you all.

I WILL REFRESH YOU

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this partially cloudy day! The weather has now cooled off and it is very comfortable in the houses. I don't think we will have many more hot days on the Island from now on. We did not have rain yet but the weatherman is calling for some today. I pray for rain everyday.

In my prayer with Jesus, I was with Him the whole time and He spoke to me saying, "Melvin, I love you. Come and rejoice for our special time has arrived again. Surrender your heart to me and be at peace. There are many things going on in your life these days: visitors will soon come; you have a voyage to prepare for; there are a number of ceremonies and celebrations that call for your attention, and you have plenty of letters to write. Remember I am always with you; rely on my help. Many of you, my friends, are also overwhelmed by work and worry. Do not let these pressures disturb your relationship with me. Take time to be with me every day and I will refresh you. I am your brother who cares for you and gently guides you. I give you the gift of my peace."

Jesus cares for us because He loves us. He knows that we need His peace and joy. So often we are too concerned about ourselves and what we have to do. This only causes pressure and disturbs our peace. He wants us to take one thing at a time and leave the others for another day. The most important part of our day, though, is the time we spent with Jesus. Let us always give Him at least one half hour and He will make our day. You don't have to prove anything to Him; He just wants you as you are. We don't have to come to Him with a mask on. No, let us be ourselves for this is the way He wants us to be. His peace is a great gift He gives us, His friends. Let us accept this gift from Him.

I will be with my mother this afternoon and I will celebrate the Holy Eucharist for the residents where she is. I will visit all those who are bedridden and bring them the consolation of the Holy Eucharist if they can receive. I love to serve these dear friends of the Lord. May Jesus refresh you all with peace and joy.

Place your heart in mine

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this beautiful sunny day! It is cool this morning with no wind. We prayed for rain last evening in Church for everything is sodry. The farmers especially are anxious to get rain soon to save their crops.

On this Sunday morning I was with Jesus in prayer. He spoke to me saying, "Melvin, my brother and my friend, I love you. I live in your heart where I made my home long ago. Today you celebrate my resurrection for indeed I am the Risen One who strengthens you every day. I show you every day the way you should go. Remain always united to me. All you my friends come and I will shelter you from evil. I am the faithful one who will never leave you. I suffered and died on the cross for you, but now I am glorified; I am your strength. Place your heart in mine, and there you will find peace. I give you my peace for you are mine. Be joyful for I have conquered the world. I love you all."

What peace and joy Jesus gave me this morning! How wonderful it is to be with Him! He is the greatest friend we have and He is always there for us. Let us live in this relationship with Him. He asks us this morning to place our hearts in His. Let our hearts beat in unison, in love. Let us surrender completely to Him to do His will. It is in losing ourselves in Him that we will find ourselves, our true selves. Let us be the channel of His love to all we meet today. May Jesus keep you close to His heart today.

Mary blesses us all.

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Greetings and best wishes on Our Lady's Saturday! What a beautiful cool morning the Lord is giving us. It is only 74F or 23C in the house. We had rain overnight and that is a blessing for the ground was very dry. I took it easy yesterday for I was tired and I needed to catch up on my sleep. I had a very good sleep last night and now I feel refreshed.

I was with Jesus in prayer this morning. He spoke to me saying, "Melvin, I bless you; you are mine. This morning let us go and visit our Mother." I agreed and Jesus brought me to her home. Mary then showed herself to me as I saw her previously and spoke saying, "Melvin, great joy fills my heart at your visit. I am your mother you cares for you. You already saw me three times and I spoke of my great desire. Great sorrow fills my heart because so many people are offending God. The Father is ready to chastise the world because of the terrible sins committed against Him every day. Many will suffer and die if they do not turn away from sin and return to Him. It is love for my children that compels me to come to you so that my message be made known to the world. I repeat my great desire today: have a shrine built on the Island in my honour for I am the Lady of Prince Edward Island. Many people will come there and miracles of grace will take place in my sanctuary. Many will return to the Lord and live in union with Him. They will repent of their sins and follow Jesus, my Son. Melvin, you see me again today sad and crying for I love my children. Oh! may you all return to Jesus before it is too late. Now is the time of mercy. Jesus will forgive anyone who comes to Him with sorrow in his heart for having offended God. Pray that my desire will soon be fulfilled. I bless you, Melvin, and all my children."

What joy fills my heart at seeing Our Lady again today. For a time she was very sad and she shed tears. They rolled off her cheeks and fell to the ground. What great love she has for all of us. How horrible sin is that it caused such sorrow to Our Blessed Mother. She wants the shrine with all her heart and she knows that it will bring much good to the people of the Island and those of the whole world. Let us take her plea for prayers to heart and pray earnestly every day for the shrine.

Yesterday I opened the many letters I received while I was away. Most of them were requests for the book "The Art of Contemplative Prayer." I have very few books left as I brought all the books I had at home with me to Connecticut. However, I still have 500 in Charlottetown which I hope to collect soon. I also have some youth books there too. May Jesus, our Saviour, and Mary, our Mother, shower you with grace and love.

Jesus is giving us many gifts.

Dear Paul, Rita and Friends,

Good morning on this hot and sunny day. I arrived back late last night after a wonderful 10 days in the US. The three of us, Ceo, Amanda and I, are so happy with this trip, with all the lovely people we met especially the greatest cousins in the world. What a welcome we received! I thank them with my whole heart. Going and coming we stopped in Mexico, Maine, for one night at Ceo's cousins who open their hearts to us.

The weekend retreat at Moodus went very well. On Saturday there were about 110 people present. The people there were very enthusiastic to learn all about contemplative prayer and to begin to pray in this way. They kept me busy with questions, prayers, confessions, talks, and of course the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. I am so happy with my stay in Connecticut.

At prayer this morning, Jesus spoke to me saying, "Melvin, my brother, I love you with all my heart. You are home after a long trip which you enjoyed very much. I was with you at all times. You taught many people about contemplative prayer, and already many have started to pray. May they cooperate with my grace and make progress daily. All of you, come to the mountain and spend time with me every day. I will teach you and guide you towards the summit. I will help you to shed the excessive baggage you are carrying, especially the baggage filled with pride, anger, resentment, fear, depression and your sins. I will give you instead the gifts of peace, joy, love, freedom, faith, hope and companionship with me. You will become my intimate friends and part of my dear family. I love you all."

Contemplative prayer is a sharing among friends. Our greatest friend is Jesus and He wants us all near to Him. We have to get rid of all the rubbish we have accumulated and if we let Him He will help us get rid of all this. So many people are imprisoned by the past that they cannot advance any more. We all want to be free of all this and if we cooperate with Jesus He will make us free. Jesus calls us to be His friends.

I have many letters waiting. My sister handed me a pile of them and when I opened my computer there were still more. It will take me the day to read them all. I still feel tired with all the heat so I hope to rest a bit today and tomorrow. May Jesus and His Mother bless you and give you peace.

Father Melvin.

Dear Rita,

I wrote an article to be published in the local paper here about our Afternoon of Prayer in Miscouche. You can send it out if you wish. Fr. Melvin

Here it is:

Report on Afternoon of Prayer
At the request of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island, about 800 people, on July 22, 2001, gathered on the baseball field behind St. John the Baptist's Church in Miscouche for an afternoon of prayer. It was a sunny day but a good breeze was blowing. The people sat there in the sun without too much discomfort. The local people had rented a public address system and had set up a tent for the speakers. Soon after 2:00 p.m. the choir from Palmer Road began to sing to open the afternoon of prayer.

After the hymns I came forward to offer a prayer to Our Heavenly Father asking Him to bless us all as we began our prayer. I asked Him for all the graces we needed so that we may open our hearts to Him. This prayer was made through the intercession of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island.

Two readings followed: the first was from Luke 1, 26 - 38 which describes for us the visit of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary to announce to her that she would be the mother of the Messiah, the Saviour; the second reading was taken from John 19, 25 - 27 which gives us the words of Jesus from the cross making Mary the mother of us all.

I then gave my talk, which was divided into three parts. The first part highlighted Mary's role as Mother of Jesus. She was chosen by God Himself to give birth to the Saviour. God sent Gabriel to make known His will that she was to be the mother of the Messiah. He waited for her response, which she gave in these words, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." She gave her consent and became the Mother of God. The next scene was the crucifixion. Jesus is nailed to the cross and in great suffering just moments before His death tells Mary these words, "Woman, behold your son." Then He said to John, "Behold, your mother." I emphasized these last words for in this solemn scene they are meant for each one of us. Through these words, Jesus gives us His Mother to be our Mother. I asked each person present if they truly accepted Mary as their Mother. If they did accept her, I called on them to pray individually to Mary telling her what she meant for them.

For the second part of my talk, I read what I had written about the three visits of the Mother of Jesus. Her visits were a profound experience for me, which I relive every time I speak about them.

The main points are these:

1. Our Blessed Mother loves us very much. She has only our good at heart. She is concerned about us and especially about our eternal salvation. She came with a message for each one of us. I am only the messenger used by her to bring you that message.

2. She knows that so many of her children have strayed away from God and are lost. She calls them all to return to Him. She points to her Son, Jesus, and tells us to do whatever He tells us. She wants us to repent of our sins, to take Jesus' hand and to walk with Him. She calls us to pray every day and to go to church regularly.

3. She called herself the Lady of Prince Edward Island and she asked for a shrine to be built in the center of the Island in her honour. She knows many will come from the Island and from other parts of Canada and the world to visit her shrine and to ask for her help. She will never refuse any person who comes to her in all sincerity. She will intercede for all before her Son. Great spiritual miracles will happen at this shrine for many will come to believe again and they will return to the practice of their faith.

4. Mary asked for prayers. She wants all the people who love her to pray daily until the shrine is built. Make her wish known to all your family and friends and ask them to pray for her great desire. She does not force anyone but gently asks that we consider this request for it is to help us that she wants this shrine.

The third part of the talk dealt with the reason Our Lady chose Prince Edward Island for her visit and the shrine. She loves the Island and all the people there. She is very happy that it is free from abortion and she calls on all the believers to keep it that way. She also asks for Catholic Schools on the Island so that the young may grow up as Christians well instructed in their faith. Today there are no more Catholic Schools with the result that all children are taught in secular schools where there is no Christian teaching at all.

At the end of my talk I called on Eleanor Taylor to come forward and give her witness. She lives near Charlottetown. She began by telling us the bad news she received in January 2001. She was told that she had ovarian cancer and she had only three months to live. It was after she received this news that she asked me to come and visit her. I went to her home in February and I anointed her with Holy Oil and prayed for her to the Lord through the intercession of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island. Without going into detail, she reported to us that she has plenty of energy, she eats well, and has no pain. She told us that she considers it a miracle that she is still alive and feeling so well.

The afternoon of prayer continued with songs from the choir and many participants joined in the singing. Then came the petitions address to the Father and after each petition all responded saying, "Lord, may Our Lady of Prince Edward Island pray for us." We prayed for the sick, the sorrowful, the Church and for mothers. We prayed that all would respect life in all its stages and that abortion cease in our country and in the world. We prayed too that Our Lady's wish for the Island would come about soon.

The last prayer of the afternoon was the rosary. We prayed the five decades of the rosary with great fervour. We meditated on the glorious mysteries, which begin with the Resurrection of Our Lord, followed by His Ascension and the Coming of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. The last two mysteries are the Assumption of Mary and her crowning as Queen of heaven and earth. I ended the afternoon of prayer with my priestly blessing.

I was very happy with the whole afternoon. The participation was very good and there was a good atmosphere of prayer. I was pleased to see that the large painting of Our Lady was displayed in the field. Our Lady had asked for this prayer and many answered her call. We had gathered on a Sunday afternoon in July to honour the Mother of Jesus and our Mother. I wish to thank everyone who came to honour Our Lady of Prince Edward Island. I also thank those who were unable to come but joined us in spirit through prayer that afternoon.

I extend my hand to you

Dear Paul, Rita and all Jesus' Friends,

Good morning on this sunny Monday. We had a great weekend with plenty of sunshine. I brought my mother to the 40th Wedding Anniversary celebrations yesterday. My sister, Esther, and her husband, Leo, celebrated with family and friends at their home. All enjoyed the afternoon.

At prayer this morning, Jesus spoke to me saying, "I love you, Melvin, I embrace you. I bring you with me up the mountain. Let us sit here and admire the view. I used to take my disciples to secluded places for a day in order to teach them and at the same time they could rest. My words today to you and all my friends are about heaven. Heaven is where God has His throne and He is surrounded by a vast army of angels and saints. The destiny of each person on earth is to enjoy eternal bliss with God in heaven forever. A number of conditions have to be fulfilled before anyone may reach heaven. All are called to believe in me, their Saviour, to repent of all their sins, and to follow me. I am the door to heaven. If you are united with me, I will lead you through the door. Some have to go through a time of purification because only the perfect enter heaven immediately after death. How important it is then, to return to me every day and to persevere in following me. So many are lost today because they have rejected me. May they come back to me before it is too late. Be united to me through prayer and service. I extend my hand to you for I love you. I bless you all."

Jesus extends His hand to us and let us take it and hold on to it. He wants us to go through life holding His hand and knowing that He is very near to us. Let us be guided by Him and His church. Let us always have our destiny before us and let us cooperate with the graces the Lord gives us daily. One of the important graces is prayer, especially contemplative prayer. Let us spend some time with Jesus in prayer every day.

Tomorrow morning Ceofred and Amanda Richard and I will leave for Connecticut. I will visit my cousins in Stratford and give a weekend on contemplative prayer at the retreat house in Moodus, Ct. We should be back in Prince Edward Island on August 9th. I don't expect to send you any messages before I return home. I ask you all to pray that our trip be a safe one and that the Lord will touch the hearts of those who will take part in the weekend.

May Jesus and His Blessed Mother bless you and fill you with peace and joy.

Father Melvin.

The Holy Eucharist is my great gift to you.

Dear Paul and Rita and all Jesus' Friends,
Good morning to you and all Jesus' friends. We had some rain overnight but the sun is shining this morning. We will have another super day. Yes, God is good to us.

In prayer this morning Jesus spoke to me saying, "Melvin, your are mine, I love you. You come again today to spend time with me and this gives me great joy. Your heart is opened wide to me. Melvin, I want to live in the hearts of all my brothers and sisters for their hearts were made for me. Be my messenger to remind all of them of my burning love for them. I am your unique Saviour who died for you all. Observe regularly the Day of the Lord established by my Father, by going to Church, by heart filled prayer, and by acts of charity. I have made Sunday holy by my resurrection from the dead on that day. Make every Sunday special for me. Come and receive me in Holy Communion, and I will live in your heart. The Holy Eucharist is my great gift to you. I bless you all and I love you."

Jesus speaks of the greatness of the Holy Eucharist. In the Eucharist, Jesus gives Himself to us. He is really present in this wonderful sacrament in His Humanity and Divinity, as our living Saviour. When we receive Holy Communion, we receive the Risen Jesus as He is now in heaven. He makes His home in our hearts and He becomes our friend for our journey in this world. It is important that we think about all this on Sunday, the Day of the Lord. Our heavenly Father calls us to observe Sunday with these words: "Remember to keep Holy the Sabbath Day." It is the day of rest, of prayer, of going to Church and of taking time for others. Let us take to heart these words of the Lord. My sister and her husband are celebrating their 40th anniversary of marriage today. My mother and I will spend time with them and the whole family this afternoon as they celebrate this important milestone in their life. I will soon leave for Miminegash to celebrate the Holy Eucharist there at 9:00 a.m. I will remember you all during this celebration. May Jesus live in your hearts and may Our Lady pray for you all.

Father Melvin.
