Jan. 29, 2001 Le Repos' Featured Site of the Day! MAXKOL tells us: "This Catholic web site explains the core message of Marian apparitions. The content centers around the book The Thunder of Justice, the video Prophecy and the New Times, and a Picture Gallery." However, I have to add that this site is centered around far more than just a couple of books or videos. To see what I mean ... go take a look! Don't forget to bookmark it!
Thought of the Day
It is by humility that the Lord allows Himself to be conquered, so that He will do all we ask of Him.

We must be persistent persuaders! In our commentary today, we examine the mindset of the masses and reveal that it is fickle and very susceptible to subliminal spirituality that can turn hearts and bring the lost, wandering sheep back to the Good Shepherd Jesus. It can't happen by itself. God needs our prayers, our sacrifices and obedience. He needs our hands and feet, our eyes and ears to turn heads and hearts. People like Mother Angelica, Alan Keyes, Sean Hannity and Raymond Arroyo are just a handful that are making a difference on the airwaves. We offer some ways you can make your voice heard and help Our Lord sweep this country into a gentle whisper of love and decency that will assure our liberties and uphold life without compromise from fertilization to funeral home. With sweeps week coming, let's turn Nielsen on its ear and sweep our fellow citizens up in a wave of love through our efforts of efficacy of prayer and enlightenment of the rights of our God-given rights that, for all, are right on.
Pope pulls a fast one! Unexpectedly, Names Seven More Cardinals Click on the title for the rest of the article at Daily Catholic. Pope John Paul II has 'em all guessing! Little did anyone realize he was going to spring another surprise during his Angelus address today. But he did, not only naming the two cardinals from the Soviet Union who had been proclaimed in secret ('in pectore') for their protection, but shocked all by elevating seven more bishops to receive the prestigious scarlet biretta on February 21. He named another from Latin America (Bolivia), the new leader of the Ukraine Catholic Church, two from Germany, which had been shut out last week, and one from South Africa. It brings the total to 44 who will be elevated to the cardinalate and gives a good indication that the College, now at the 120 limit, will have its ceiling lifted to possibly 150.
