Just a word before you continue ...

We've been experiencing all sorts of problems connecting with an awful lot of the sites we get our information from. Among the sites that have been unreachable since either yesterday or early today are the forums at eGroups and Delphi, and also Newsmax. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problems that MicroSoft experienced yesterday, but I suspect that it might. Hopefully these problems will clear up soon. Until then, if you find old links that no longer work, or new links that seem to go nowhere, you may want to just come back later to see if the situation has improved. I think that canning the bookmarks or giving up on the unreachable sites may be unwarranted, since this is more than likely a temporary problem.

Poll Reveals Most Americans Oppose Most Abortions

If any one is wondering why Kate Michelman of NARAL, Patricia Ireland of NOW, and Gloria Fieldt of Planned Parenthood are worried, a poll released on the 28th anniversary of the hideous Roe vs. Wade decision helps explain. In the poll, conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post, indications are that Americans are leaning more and more towards opposing abortion which would dry up the funding and resources for those who make millions at the expense of the unborn child. One disturbing factor of the poll was that Catholics are less likely to oppose abortion than other faiths. That is truly alarming, though, according to their statistics Catholics polled voted 2-1 against this Holocaust of the Womb. Even so, one Catholic promoting abortion is one too many.

Despite strained relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and Rome that to date has put a damper on the pending Papal Visit to the Ukraine in June, a representative will still be in attendance at St. Paul Outside-the-Walls Basilica today along with representatives of 22 other religions as Pope John Paul II will conduct a special ecumenical service today to close out the Week of Prayer for Church Unity.

Austrians Can Have Abortions Up To Birth If Child Will Be Born With Disabilities

Take a peek at Mary's Yellowstone website.

The following was taken from a letter written to the good folks at Yellowstone. I did a search on some key phrases, but couldn't come up with the original article. The content, however, is still very interesting ...

Agence France Presse reported: "A bitter row over abortion and Nazi-era eugenics has been unleashed in Austria by a softly spoken women's minister, a man who wants to restrict the abortion of disabled fetuses and to involve men in the decision to end a pregnancy. Under Austrian law, women can abort up to birth if the fetus is discovered to have a serious mental or physical handicap, a situation that Herbert Haupt, a member of the far-right Freedom Party and a vet, deems 'intolerable.' And abortion is not just a matter for women, according to the minister who replaced a widely criticized female minister for social affairs in October, judging that 'the father of a child must also be involved in the decision.' To his critics, Haupt's comments have proved him unfit for the responsibility of women's affairs. But the minister has met with resounding support from members of the ruling right-wing establishment, who have likened abortion for abnormality with the Nazis' program of eugenics. During the Third Reich, to which Austria was annexed in 1938, the Nazis pursued a eugenics policy to eliminate those deemed 'unfit' for existence, a program including the sterilization, neglect, and killing of the disabled ..."
