This was posted by Grace Mizzi on the MMP forum: Predestination One day a parish priest in Ireland was confronted with a religious problem right in the middle of the hayfield. A farmer was stacking his hay into piles, when he saw the Padre coming to him across the field. "See here, Padre," said the farmer leaning on his hayfork, "will you answer me one question that's been bothering me for some time. Tell me now, does God know everything?" "He sure does," came the answer. "Does he know whether I'm going to be saved or I'm going to be lost?" "Hmmm, I suppose he does." "Tell me then, why should I be bothering about trying to save my soul? I'm not going to change his mind for him, am I?" "Well now, Bill," said the Padre after a little thought, "you and I agree that the Good Lord knows everything, don't we?" "Sure, Padre." "Does he know whether this crop of hay will be saved or lost?" "I suppose he does; no doubt about it." "Well then, Bill, why don't you get up on your tractor and go home. You're not going to change God's mind, are you?" The farmer looked at him, got the message, and went back to saving his hay.
