The Lady In Blue - A Story about Mary for all Children of God

by Brian J. Kopp, DPM

When God made the world, he made Adam and Eve, the first man and woman. They lived in a perfect garden, the Garden of Eden. They never did anything bad, and they talked to God every day. God said they could eat any of the fruit in the garden EXCEPT the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Now there were angels when God created the world. One of them, Lucifer, was a great and beautiful angel. But he was proud, and when God told the angels that he was going to create men, and the angels would help men and serve them, Lucifer rebelled. "I will NOT SERVE!!!" Lucifer screamed.

Because of his pride, Lucifer refused to serve God and the man and woman God created. And one third of the angels joined Lucifer in this revolt.

There was a great and mighty battle in Heaven that day. The angels who loved God and wanted to do God's will, fought against the rebellious angels. The good angels were lead by Saint Michael the Archangel, the Prince of the Heavenly host of angels.

Saint Michael and the good angels cast Lucifer out of Heaven. Lucifer fell to earth and became Satan, the Devil. There he began to prowl about the Garden of Eden, hoping to trick Adam and Eve into rebelling against God too. Satan hated God and anyone who loved God too. Satan wanted to trick everyone into refusing to love and serve God.

The Bible tells us what happened next:

     (Genesis Chapter 3)

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise?

2 And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.

4 And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death.

5 For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold: and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband who did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons.

8 And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise.

9 And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou?

10 And he said: I heard thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

11 And he said to him: And who hath told thee that thou wast naked, but that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat?

12 And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and the beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

15 I will put enmities [hatred] between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

16 To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband's power, and he shall have dominion over thee.

17 And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labor and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life.

18 Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou eat the herbs of the earth.

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return.

20 And Adam called the name of his wife Eve: because she was the mother of all the living.

21 And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife, garments of skins, and clothed them.

22 And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

23 And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken.

24 And he cast out Adam; and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubims, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

That is how Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden. That is how the first sin happened. That sin is called the "Original Sin." With this original sin, man lost his inheritance, his birthright, to be called "Children of God."

And because Adam and Eve were the first parents of all men and women alive today, we all have inherited that Original Sin, and all of us are born with its stain on our soul.

Then one day, God decided, "Man has lived in sin and death too long."

"Now I will send my only Son to save them from their sin, so that they may once again be called Children of God."

God chose for his only Son to become man. God was able to choose the mother who would bear His Son. He chose her from the moment she was conceived in her mother's womb. Knowing the suffering and death His Son would undergo, He took the great Grace that would come from His Son's crucifixion, death and resurrection, and brought it back to make this child Immaculate. When she was conceived, she was preserved from that Original Sin inherited from Adam and Eve.

She would be called The Immaculate Conception. She was the only woman ever born on earth without any sin or stain on her soul, except Eve. Her name was Mary.

As a little girl, her favorite color was always blue. It was a sign of her perfect pure heart. She never disobeyed good Saint Ann and Saint Joachim, her parents. She was never mad or cross. She was a perfect child, and her soul remained Immaculate.

Like all little Jewish boys and girls, she knew the scripture stories about Adam and Eve and Original Sin. She knew the stories of the prophets, who told God's children about their need to repent and follow God's laws. Most of all, she knew the scriptures that said God would send a Savior to save his lost children from their sin.

And she knew the scripture that said, "I will put enmities [hatred] between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel."

She knew God would send a Savior, a Messiah, to be born of a Virgin of the house of David. She knew that Virgin would be the most blessed woman ever to live, for she would have the chance to say "YES" to God, and fix so much of the trouble that started when Eve said "NO" to God by listening to Satan and eating the forbidden fruit.

But this little girl in blue was also the most humble girl who ever lived. Although she loved God with her whole heart and desired to serve only Him, she could never let herself think she was THE ONE, the Virgin who would bear the Savior, God made man, the Son of God Most High. Only the most holy Virgin could be granted such a desire, she knew. She was too humble to dare to think that she was that most Holy Virgin. But she hated sin, and the devil, and wished she could help crush his head like Genesis said the Virgin would.

When this child in blue, Mary, was a teenage girl, God sent the Archangel Gabriel to her.

The Bible tells us what happened next:

     (Luke, Chapter One)

26 And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.

31 Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.

33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?

35 And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:

37 Because no word shall be impossible with God.

38 And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Mary conceived and bore the Son of God, Jesus. At the time of his birth, the Bible says:

     (Luke Chapter 2)

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem: because he was of the house and family of David,

5 To be enrolled with Mary his espoused wife, who was with child.

6 And it came to pass, that when they were there, her days were accomplished, that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Lady in Blue, Mary ever Virgin, gave birth to the savior of the world that day.

If Mary had not said yes to God's Angel Gabriel, we would never have received our Savior, Jesus Christ. Mary taught Jesus. The Mother of God home schooled her own Savior! He was the perfect child, and Jesus looked more like his earthly mother than any man in history, because He took His flesh only from her.

She raised Him in their home in Nazareth, and He was a carpenter with His foster father, St. Joseph. After good St. Joseph died, Jesus stayed with His mother, working as a carpenter and being obedient to His mother.

One day Jesus and Mary, the Lady in Blue, were at a wedding feast in Cana. They ran out of wine. Mary told Jesus, and Jesus performed His first miracle. This was the beginning of Jesus' preaching, teaching, and miracles. It was also the first step on His road to Calvary, where He would be crucified, die and rise on the third day.

Mary, the Lady in Blue, was there with every step Jesus took in his earthly life . She knew Jesus better that any mother ever knew a Son.

And when the time came for Him to suffer and die for our sins, the Lady in Blue was there then too. As He was dying on the cross, Jesus gave His mother to us.

     John, Chapter 19 says:

26 When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son.

27 After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.

From that moment on, the Lady in Blue, Mary the Mother of God, became our mother too. She is your mother and my mother. She is Mother of God, and Mother of the Church.

After Jesus died, Mary went away to pray. She alone understood that Jesus would indeed rise again on Easter Sunday. But until He rose, she prayed for her children, the apostles and disciples, who Jesus had given to her, so that they would not be afraid and that they would understand all the Glorious things that would happen after Jesus' resurrection on Easter day.

We know the rest of the story. Jesus rose on that third day, Easter Sunday, and taught his disciples to pray and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. After His Ascension into Heaven, Mary stayed with her children and prayed for them, for the coming of this Holy Spirit of God. She was there in the cenacle at Pentecost, in the upper room, when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in tongues of fire. This was the birth of the Church. The lady in Blue was there for its birth, and she is there still today as our mother.

Remember how Adam and Eve sinned? If they had never sinned, they would have never gotten sick or died! God did not create death.

Death came into the world through original sin, when the devil tempted Adam and Eve into disobeying God. They knew it was wrong to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but they disobeyed God. If they had not sinned, they would have just fallen asleep then gone to Heaven when their life was done here on earth.

But how did God create the Lady in Blue, Mary, the Mother of God? She was created as the Immaculate Conception. God wanted His only Son to become flesh in a PURE womb. A womb of a woman with original sin is not pure. So God created Mary free from the stain of original sin from the time of her conception. And so we call her the "Immaculate Conception." That way, when Jesus was conceived in her womb by the power of the Holy Spirit He took His flesh from a woman free of original sin and still pure, having never sinned herself.

All men and woman suffer and die because of original sin and our own sin. But Mary, the Lady in Blue, never sinned. She was preserved from original sin. So she never died. At the end of her life, she fell asleep. This is called her "dormition." Then she was taken up, body and soul, into Heaven to be with her son Jesus.

Besides Jesus, Mary is the only human in Heaven now both body and soul. All the Saints are buried somewhere on earth. Their bodies are in a grave here but their souls are in Heaven. Mary's body AND her soul are both in Heaven. When Mary was taken to Heaven, both body and soul, this was called her "Assumption."

So Mary is in Heaven now with her son Jesus our Lord and King, God her Father, and her spouse, the Holy Spirit. Because Mary is Mother of our Jesus our King, Daughter of the Father, and spouse of the Holy Spirit, she was given a crown in Heaven. She was crowned as Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Queen of All the Angels and Saints.

Like any good mother, Mary wants us to be happy and do the Father's Will. She says to us today the same thing she told the waiter at Cana, "Do whatever He tells you to do." She even comes to a few souls who have child like faith, like Lucia at Fatima, to talk to them and bring messages for the world from Our Father in heaven. When she does we must listen to these messages and obey them to the very best of our ability.

The Lady in Blue is God's mother, and our Mother too. She loves you and me and wants only happiness and joy for us, and she is waiting to greet us when we die, to take us to Her Son, Jesus.

Take her into your heart and return the love she is giving you, and she will take you to her Son Jesus, and you will come to know Him and Love Him and Serve Him in this Life, and you will be Happy with Him forever in the next life, Heaven. The lady in Blue is your mother. Listen to her.
